Concept 1 / 9
What is Human Resource Management?
Human Resource Management (HRM) is the structured provision of human resource capacity — covering both dispositive (planning-oriented) and object-related (execution-oriented) human work performance — across five mandatory dimensions:
| Dimension | What it specifies |
|---|---|
| Quantity | How many people are required |
| Quality | Which qualifications and skills are needed |
| Time | When the capacity must be available |
| Duration | How long the capacity is required |
| Location | Where the work must be performed |
A definition that omits any one of these five dimensions is considered incomplete. HRM encompasses all operational, tactical, and strategic processes that serve to provide and manage motivated employees. It can be examined at the macro level (activities not directly tied to individuals, such as workforce planning policies) and at the micro level (activities that relate directly to individual employees).
